Booking Conditions

Bookings with Ancient Alba are accepted only in accordance with the terms and conditions set out below. When you make a booking with us you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.

Payment: Bookings must be accompanied by an email and include a non-returnable deposit of £105. Full payment is required before tour departure. We will send you a confirmation of your booking, at which point the contract between us comes into existence. You have undertaken to pay for the holiday you have booked and we have undertaken to provide you with the holiday described in the website. Your contract with us shall be subject to Scottish Law. If you make a booking on behalf of others as well as yourself, we shall take it that you have the authority of each of those other people to enter into that contract and that you and they have agreed to be jointly and severally liable to us. If we are unable to accept your booking, we will return your payment to you immediately. We reserve the right to cancel any booking for which full payment has not been received at the time of departure.

Cancellations: If you or any member of your party has to cancel your booking, we must be informed by telephone, letter or e-mail immediately. Any cancellation will incur the full loss of the deposit. If we have to cancel your booking for any reason other than non-payment of the balance we will refund all monies paid. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any consequential loss you may suffer as a result of the cancellation of your holiday, for example travel expenses etc.

Inclusions: Your tour includes all transport between Edinburgh and Orkney, transportation on Orkney, accommodation, entry fees and one breakfast are included in your holiday. All accommodation is en- suite and non-smoking. Your tour does not include food (other than one breakfast), incidentals or personal travel insurance.

Insurance: We carry tour operators’ professional indemnity and public liability insurance as required by UK law. We strongly recommend that you take out appropriate insurance to cover you in the event you have to cancel your holiday for any reason.

Health: You must be reasonably fit and healthy to take part in one of our tours, which involve some walking and may include travel over rough terrain, whilst entry to some sites entails crouching or crawling. If you have any reservations regarding your fitness for a tour, please seek medical advice and consult us in advance. Whilst we will make every effort to accommodate you, we can accept no liability for your inability to take full part in the tour.

Flexibility: If you wish to make any changes to your tour arrangements, we will do our best to accommodate you. Any change is subject to availability and also to payment of any associated costs of the change. If you cannot take your holiday you may find another person replace you, otherwise our normal cancellation charges will apply. You, as transferor of the holiday, and the transferee shall be jointly and separately liable to us for the payment of the balance due.

Complaints: Any complaints relating to matters arising during the holiday must be reported to us immediately, and we will do our best to resolve the problem. If you still feel dissatisfied you must put your complaint in writing to us no later than 30 days after completion of your holiday.
